Chronic depression is a big problem in our society. In fact, over 1.5 million cases are discovered per year in Nigeria alone. Depression portrays itself in different ways and forms. Some people suffer a mild version of it and others suffer a chronic form.
Today, I shall be focusing on chronic depression which is a more debilitating form of depression. Many people may confuse the signs of regular depression with chronic depression but there is a major difference. Let us talk about it.
The Difference Between Depression and Chronic Depression
The major difference between depression and chronic depression is longevity. Chronic depression shares similar symptoms with depression but the former lasts longer and causes more harm.
Chronic depression affects the day-to-day affairs of those struggling with it. It will also affect their sleep, appetite, and even memory. People who suffer from depression may suffer from occasional episodes or struggle with it for life.
However, just like severe depression has physical consequences, it also has spiritual consequences. Now let us talk about the spiritual consequences:
Spiritual Consequences of Chronic Depression
- Possession by Evil Spirits
When a person is depressed, every aspect of their life suffers. Their vibration or guard is low or let down, making them an easy target for evil spirits.
It would be safe to say that evil spirits are attracted to and seek out people suffering from depression or similar issues. A depressed person offers the perfect host body to evil spirits.
- Decrease in Spiritual Vitality
Chronic depression makes one’s spiritual vitality low. In most cases, people with depression have little to no relationship with God. This gets worse when an evil spirit possesses them.
A severely depressed person will continue to decline spiritually. This leaves them barely any strength to defend themselves against spiritual attacks or predators.
- Loss of Self-control
The longer the evil spirit resides in a chronically depressed person’s body, the less control the person has over their body. Eventually, the person will lose full control.
Chronically depressed people involuntarily relinquish full control to the evil spirits who do as they please with their bodies. This is why you may see people who suffer from depression behaving in unusual and suspicious ways.
- Suicide (Murder by Evil Spirits)
Suicide is one of the outcomes of chronic depression. But what is termed suicide is actually murder.
As earlier stated, a severely depressed person who has been possessed by evil spirits does not have control over their body. As time goes on, the evil spirit will tire out and want to search for its next victim. This results in the evil spirit manipulating the person into killing themselves.
Chronic depression not only affects the physical but spiritual aspect of the sufferer’s life. If help is not given to a severely depressed person who is also possessed, they may end up being killed by the spirit.
If you suspect anyone is possessed by an evil spirit and chronically depressed, immediately reach out to a spiritual leader for help.
